60% of children in America are obese children

22% of US preschoolers were overweight

40% of obese children and 70% of obese adolescents become obese adults

32% of 2-7 year olds and 65% of 8-18 year olds have television in their bedrooms

South Africans are following in their foot steps Child obesity has been growing to abnormal proportions, leaving us with a future unhealthy adult community.  Studies have shown that if a child is obese between the ages of 10 and 13 he/she has an 80 percent chance of becoming an obese adult. A child is not considered obese until weighing at least 10 percent higher than what is recommended for the height and body type. An unhealthy diet combined with a lack of exercise is the primary cause of childhood obesity. Obese children have a high risk of obtaining diseases such as coronary artery disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and type-2 diabetes.
