Meditation vs. Relaxation Exercise

So what is the difference?
Studies have shown that meditation is beneficial to overall health. Many doctors and psychologists are beginning to see the benefits of meditation as a complimentary solution for stress release, depression, anxiety, high blood pressure, and the list continues to grow.
When the word “meditation” is mentioned, many people’s response is “I cannot do it.” Some say it’s against their religion, others say that they cannot do it because their mind races in all directions and they cannot get it quiet. So, what is the big deal with meditation? Nowadays, every form of relaxation is labeled “Meditation”.
There are many explanations and definitions of meditation. I found this to be the most common belief – quote “ to engage in mental exercise (as concentration on one’s breathing or repetition of a mantra) for the purpose of reaching a heightened level of spiritual awareness”-unquote.
