Hindu festivals are celebrations of togetherness, of being one family. Raksha Bandhan is one such festival. It is celebrated in the Hindu month of Shravan during the moon phase of Shukla (waxing moon) and on the purnima Thithi (full moon). In this article we present someninformation on the festival of Raksha Bandhan. Reference will be madento some incidents in the history of India to shed light on the origins and/or history of this auspicious festival. The article will then present a short discussion on the significance of this festival as well as the rituals performed on Raksha Bandhan.
